A Typical Charity Challenge
Trek Event
A trek can vary from 4 - 21 days (UK to UK).
Usually, trekking events are around 10 days
including travel, with 5 - 6 days trekking,
with a rest or acclimatisation day at either
end of the itinerary. Treks are graded from
moderate - tough - very challenging.
We trek about 6-8 hours each day and nights
are normally spent under canvas. All camping
equipment and meals are provided.
Whilst on trek your main luggage will be carried
by porters, on mules or sometimes by vehicle
to the following night’s campsite. All
you need to carry is a daypack (small rucksack)
with your personal items for the day - waterproofs,
water, snacks, camera, sun cream etc.
Depending on the event you choose, you will
be trekking with anything from 15 - 50 other
people who will all have raised sponsorship
for the same charity. It's a great team atmosphere
and you're guaranteed to make some great new
friends.
An Ultimate tour leader and English-speaking
doctor, supported by local guides and back-up
staff, will escort you. This can add up to a
considerable number of crew backing you up.
On Kilimanjaro for example the Ultimate support
team for 25 participants can be over 100!
