How does it work?
Charity Challenges are a hugely popular way
of raising vital funds for UK charities big
and small. They are in effect very large scale
sponsored walks (or cycles or horse rides or
bobsleighs or rafting...).
The first thing you need to do is choose an
event. People choose an event because it's in
aide of a cause close to their heart or because
it's doing something they've always wanted to
do or because it's in a part of the world that
they want to visit. The reason is not important
- every charity will just be very pleased to
have you join up!
You can view a full
list of upcoming events here. Alternatively
you can start by looking through all
the charities that run Ultimate Challenges
and find out more about what they do.
We also have more information on what's involved
in a typical
trek and a
typical bike challenge event.
Most charities will ask you to pay an entry
fee to register and you will need to raise a
minimum sponsorship level to secure your place
on the event.
As a rough guide, a weekend challenge will
have an entry fee of £100-£150 and
a sponsorship target of £1000-£1500,
and a longer challenge up to 10-11 days will
have an entry fee of £200-£300 and
target sponsorship level of £2000-£3000+.
