Nepal, Everest Base Camp Trek

everest_cpVisit this stunning ancient kingdom, trek to the base of Mount Everest and summit the peak of Kala Pattar, which at 5454m offers the best views of Mount Everest, the world’s highest mountain.

As fascinating as the mountains are the Sherpas, who are amongst the hardiest, most egalitarian people in the world. Whilst best known for their feats as high altitude porters and mountain guides, the Sherpa people have traditionally been traders, herders and subsistence farmers. The Sherpas also actively practise Mahayana Tibetan Buddhism, and this reflects in every aspect of their daily life. They avoid killing any living thing and place great value on acts of merit, which will enhance their future lives and those of others. Evidence of this devotion abounds everywhere in the area we will trek - prayer flags flutter from rooftops, stones inscribed with prayers line the trails and the sounds of Tibetan chanting can be heard resounding through the valleys.

This trekking expedition is the ultimate charity challenge! For fourteen days we will hike in the footsteps of Sir Edmund Hilary and other famous mountaineers through the Khumbu in the shadow of Mount Everest.

Best time of year: February, March and November
