Join Marie Curie on the roof of Africa! Mount Kilimanjaro is one of Africa’s most magnificent sights and at 5895m it is her highest peak.
Marie Curie Cancer Care provides high quality nursing, totally free, to give terminally ill people the choice of dying at home supported by their families. Every year Marie Curie provides care to around 30,000 cancer patients and their families, either in the comfort of their own home or at one of their Marie Curie Hospices.
Join us on a six day trek on Mount Kilimanjaro, ascending this magnificent mountain using the Rongai route. From cultivated farmlands on the lower levels, through lush jungle, alpine meadow and then finally across a barren lunar landscape to the summit of Kibo, which, despite its position on the Equator, is permanently covered in snow.
This trail does not require any technical climbing but is very challenging, and we allow an extra acclimatisation day.
This is one of the toughest challenges we organise, but our experienced team will support you throughout, whether it’s training advice, what it’s actually like to be on the mountain, how to fundraise and what type of kit to take with you. Once on the mountain, the Marie Curie support will be with you every step of the way, along with our Expedition Leader, Doctor and team of local guides ensuring your safety.
