Mount Kilimanjaro is one of Africa’s most magnificent sights, and at 5895m it is her highest peak. It's the tallest freestanding volcano in the world and Kibo, which is the central crater, rests on its two sisters Mawenzi and Shira.
From cultivated farmlands on the lower levels, our route takes us through lush jungle, alpine meadow and finally across a barren lunar landscape to the summit of Kibo.
It’s a tough climb to the rim of the crater and isn’t until dawn breaks over the clouds that you realise how high you have climbed. If the day is clear there are spectacular views across the savannah plains below with the possibility of seeing Mount Kenya some 360km away.
The ultimate once in a lifetime charity challenge!
