The Brain Research Trust
The Brain Research Trust (BRT) has been raising money for research into neurological diseases and conditions for over 35 years. We are the main fundraising arm of the world-renowned research centre, UCL's Institute of Neurology (IoN), Queen Square, London The BRT supports the Institute by funding research and PhD studentship programmes.
The Trust's aim is to promote and support the Institute's research and investigation into diseases of the brain and nervous system. From the more than 250 identified neurological disorders, some of the areas included in the Institute's current research programme are:
Alzheimer's Disease
Autism
Brain Tumours
Epilepsy
Huntington's Disease
Migraine
Motor Neurone Disease
Movement Disorders
Multiple Sclerosis
Parkinson's Disease (including the Deep Brain Stimulation
operation)
Serious Head Injury
Spinal cord research
Stroke
The Brain Research Trust is an independent registered charity established in 1971, since when the BRT has given over £30 million to the IoN to help fund their research and PhD studentship programmes.
Fundraising is done in many ways. In addition to raising money through our exciting programme of challenge events, including treks, bike rides and marathons, we also rely on donations and legacies as we receive no funding from the government.
