South Africa, Northern Cape Safari Trek Charity Challenge

Challenge Type: Trek
Destination:  South Africa, Africa
Best Time:  March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November

This is one of our outline challenge itineraries. If you are interested in running this as a fundraising event, please contact us for more information. If you are looking to take part in a charity challenge please see upcoming events.

South Africa is an immense and impressive country with a coastline that borders two great oceans and a vast interior of fine vineyards, rich farmland, game-rich savannahs, traditional Zulu kraals and a post-apartheid identity still in the process of definition, there is undoubtedly an abundance of energy and sense of progress about the place.

Our trekking challenge takes us to the Northern Cape, 480 kilometres south west of Johannesburg. The Northern Cape province, a seemingly vast barren landscape has dramatic displays of natural beauty and is perhaps one of the least explored regions of South Africa and remains, for the serious adventurer, an everlasting challenge.

We trek for 5 tough days exploring the diverse countryside, within a three thousand hectare spread of savannah thornveld with an eco-system sustained by herds of indigenous antelope and an abundance of birdlife. We will witness several game species in their natural habitat, like the Gemsbok, Blesbuck, Rooihartebees, Eland, Springbok, Zebra, Giraffe and many more. We follow the game paths like the explorers of long ago did when they were discovering the interior of Africa. On the last two days of the trek we undertake in some kayaking and rafting along the stunning Orange River.
